ExxonMobil brought an exciting product launch to CHINAPLAS 2016, the new Exceed XP performance polymer.
Exceed
Exceed XP performance polymers deliver exceptional flex-crack resistance, toughness and outstanding sealing to prevent leaks.
Developed through advanced catalyst technology, process research, and applications expertise, Exceed XP has been designed to provide extreme performance in a variety of film applications and to run at faster production rates, while preventing wastage along the supply chain thanks to its superb properties.
Exceed XP has been designed for flexible packaging and film applications across a range of sectors, including flexible food and beverage packaging - making a particularly good fit for bag-in-box, agricultural films and in construction liners.
Thomas Deman, Global Polyethylene Marketing manager, ExxonMobil Chemical, said at the press conference to mark the launch: "Exceed XP shows our commitment to growth, our customers and innovation. As you can tell, we are very excited about our newest PE platform. It brings performance where performance really matters."
"Exceed XP extends the performance and processing attributes of our extensive line of polyethylene resins," noted Cindy Shulman, Plastics and Resins Vice-President. "Packaging films made with Exceed XP offers a high level of protection and preservation for a broad range of products. These unique polymers are especially well-suited for demanding applications such as liquid and food packaging, construction liners and agricultural films, where extreme performance matters."
Exceed XP produces exceptionally strong films, with excellent flex crack resistance and toughness that prevent product leakage and contamination, helping manufacturers and brand owners protect and preserve their products through to the consumer. The material's toughness produces exceptionally tough films with outstanding sealing performance. Downgauging levels of up to 30 per cent can be achieved with better packaging performance, while helping producers and brand owners protect and preserve food longer. Moreover, building liners comprising of Exceed XP inhibit water vapour penetration to reduce the risk of mould formation.
"These new performance polymers are part of our commitment to growth and innovation," said Shulman. "With a strong foundation of global reliability, product consistency and technical support, we are delighted to be expanding our Exceed and Enable performance polyethylene portfolio with Exceed XP – when extreme performance matters."
It is no happy accident that ExxonMobil has launched Exceed XP at CHINAPLAS. Larry Gros, Global Polymers Technology, was keen to express the company's commitment to its Shanghai Technical Centre and how the customer-collaborative development of Exceed XP "underpins" ExxonMobil's commitment to the polyethylene business around the world.
"The China market has grown significantly in the last few decades. It’s a leading market in the world and 90 per cent growth in performance PE is in emerging markets - 50 per cent of that in China. It's really an innovation leader. Our customers in China innovate with us and are a large part of Exceed XP's validation for extreme performance. This is just the beginning," stated Shulman.
