CHINAPLAS 2017 is only a couple of months away, but its next outing in Shanghai in 2018 is already making the headlines.
Shanghai
The world's second-largest plastics and rubber event - and the largest event of its kind in Asia - will return to Shanghai next year to the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in the Hongqiao District of the city from April 24th-27th 2018.
China Plastics and Rubber Journal, who broke the story, quoted event organiser Adsale General Manager Ada Leung as saying "We really ran out of space in Shanghai New International Exhibition Center (SNIEC). Evaluation and analysis on moving to NECC began in early 2016 and considering the long-term development of the show, we made the decision in the fourth quarter."
Leung thanked the SNIEC but as all the halls had been fully occupied for CHINAPLAS since 2012, Adsale had to resort to outdoor marquees and temporary accommodation for stands which was not convenient for exhibitors or visitors, especially in inclement weather.
The NECC, which was newly opened in 2015 boasts floor space of 400,000 sq m of indoor space and 100, 000 sq m of outdoor display space, giving CHINAPLAS plenty of room to expand its target of 300,000 sq m of exhibition space in 2018.
Before the next Shanghai edition of CHINAPLAS, however, is the 2017 outing, which is taking place in Guangzhou from May 16th-19th 2017.
