Borouge without Borders
This month (January 2017) Borouge has launched its Borouge Without Borders campaign, which aims to strengthen the efforts made by its employees to the UAE community by encouraging them to volunteer and lend their time and efforts to humanitarian causes by giving them time out of their day-to-day jobs.
"The inspiring declaration of the UAE President to consider 2017 a Year of Giving reveals the Leadership’s vision of promoting the principles of social responsibility and attributing to the prosperity of people by valuing the noble meaning of volunteering and giving back to society," said Ahmed Omar Abdulla, Borouge CEO. "We are proud to have the opportunity to align with the declaration of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa in enhancing the values of giving and extending helping hands to the people in need, and our new ‘Borouge without Borders’ initiative is a great example of Borouge’s commitment to the UAE community through which our employees are able to offer their time and support to the society."
On the official launch day of Borouge Without Borders on December 5th 2016, some 40 Borouge staff visited the Autism Centre at the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs in Abu Dhabi as well as its branch of Gayathi Centre in Ruwais to support the autistic children with their lessons in arts, music, English and sports, entertaining them and showing interest in what they are doing and learning.
"Fostering partnerships and social initiatives within the industry and society and promoting solutions that deliver a positive and sustainable impact on people’s lives lie in the DNA of Borouge and its social responsibility activities," Abdulla stated. "In the year ahead, Borouge will be reinforcing its Borouge Without Borders initiative focusing on involving more of its people to make a difference in the lives of people in the less fortunate communities across the regions where Borouge operates."
Providing support, care and showing responsible interest in its local communities is an essential component of Borouge’s sustainability approach.
