The plant will produce personal care products and is set to bring some 400 manufacturing jobs to the Emirate and will be extremely sustainable, falling in-line with Unilever's Sustainable Living Plan, which will mean no waste is transported to landfill.
Turner and Townsend is overseeing the development of the factory.
Supply Chain Director at Unilever Gulf Ahmed Kadous noted the importance of investing in manufacturing in the Middle East, as the region turns its gaze increasingly away from oil-based industry for wealth generation.
"This project represents a significant investment in the region’s manufacturing industries - a venture we are proud to be a part of," he stated. "Our decision to continue investing in Dubai was the result of the steady rise in demand for quality personal care products in the region. In addition, the new facility will assist us in achieving our long-term vision; doubling the size of our business while halving our environmental footprint."
