ExxonMobil Chemical will demonstrate the versatile capabilities of Vistamaxx performance polymers at its booth 7B140 at ArabPlast this week.

Vistamaxx
Vistamaxx polymers can be used as a carrier for filler masterbatch or neat to deliver a number of benefits to a wide range of applications including shopping and rubbish bags, polypropylene (PP) raffia tapes for woven applications and coating for woven PP raffia bags.
Using Vistamaxx polymers as a carrier for filler masterbatch can enhance the property profile at a low cost. It enables compounders to increase filler loadings while achieving good dispersion. The Vistamaxx polymers remain in a continuous phase, reducing dust and allowing high quality pelletisation of the masterbatch.
Stronger shopper and garbage bags
The dart drop and tear resistance of high density polyethylene (HDPE) shopping and rubbish films can be increased by using a Vistamaxx polymers-based masterbatch in the formulation in place of a conventional linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE)-based filler masterbatch.
This formulation provides converters with opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining properties. Not only can more low-cost filler masterbatch be added, but the tougher film can be downgauged for less material use and more recycled material can be added.
Raffia tapes with higher tenacity
Using Vistamaxx polymers based anti-fibrillation masterbatch (AFMB) increases the tenacity of raffia tape fiber at higher elongation compared to a standard AFMB. Higher masterbatch let-down ratios are also possible. This leads to less tape breakage and improved drop performance in raffia sacks in which the tapes are used.
Reduced coating weight for block bottom bags
The addition of Vistamaxx polymers to the PP and LDPE formula used to coat block bottom bags improves the adhesion to the underlying PP web. The use of Vistamaxx polymers reduces the coating weight for less material use and allows sealing at a lower temperature for energy savings and better protection of the PP web from mechanical deterioration.
